Part One: Session Two, Keeneland September Yearling Sale

Well, I’ve cut back slightly in the amount of yearlings featured. For session one, because of the incredible quality of book one, I highlighted 35 yearlings (a top 25 and 10 extras). Session two, though not at the same level as session one, is full of high quality yearlings as well and features a catalog of 305 yearlings rather than 132. So you can’t blame me for selecting 30 yearlings (25 top selections and 5 extras)!

Listed below are my top selections for session two, listed in hip number order (this session spans hips 133-437):

Hip #142: Sired by the distinguished Unbridled’s Song, this colt is out of a multiple graded stakes winner who has produced a multiple stakes winner. Consigned by Taylor Made.

Hip #145:
By the Belmont Stakes (GI)-winning Lemon Drop Kid, this filly’s second dam is the dam of not only a graded stakes winner, but a multiple grade one winner. Consigned by Mulholland Springs.

Hip #149:
Sired by the young Divine Park, this filly is a daughter of a stakes-winning half-sister to two grade one winners. Consigned by Brereton C. Jones/Airdrie Stud.

Hip #159:
By the Belmont-winning Touch Gold, this filly is out of a graded stakes-winning producer of a grade one winner, a graded stakes winner, and two other black-type horses. Consigned by Three Chimneys.

Hip #184:
Sired by the outstanding Distorted Humor, this filly’s granddam is the great racemare and producer Personal Ensign. Consigned by Mill Ridge.

Hip #203: A son of the multiple classic-winning Henrythenavigator, this colt is a half-brother to not only a multiple graded stakes winner, but an additional graded stakes winner and stakes-placed runner. Consigned by Brookdale Sales.

Hip #206:
By the successful Tapit, this colt’s second dam is the champion Serena’s Song, dam of four graded stakes winners, including a group one winner. Consigned by Denali Stud.

Hip #212:
Sired by the incredible Giant’s Causeway, this colt is a half-brother to two graded stakes winners. Consigned by Taylor Made.

Hip #213:
Another son of Giant’s Causeway, this colt is a half-brother to the multiple grade one-winning Pomeroy. Consigned by Gainesway.

Hip #246:
Sired by Distorted Humor, this filly is a half-sister to the multiple graded stakes-winning Rule. Notably, her second dam produced the dual classic-winning Funny Cide. Consigned by Denali Stud.

Hip #249:
By In Excess, this filly is a full sister to not only a grade one winner, but a graded stakes winner. Consigned by Taylor Made.

Hip #261: Sharing the same sire as five champions in Bernstein, this filly is a half-sister to not only a graded stakes winner, but also a grade one winner. Consigned by Stone Farm.

Hip #270:
By the late, great Dynaformer, this filly is a half-sister to a pair of graded stakes winners. Consigned by Three Chimneys.

Hip #273:
A daughter of Henrythenavigator, this filly is a half-sister to two graded stakes winners, as well as a multiple grade one winner. Consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale.

Hip #280:
Yet another offspring of Henrythenavigator, this colt’s graded stakes-winning dam is a half-sister to a champion, a grade one winner, and a black-type winner. Consigned by Lane’s End.

Hip #303:
Sired by Wildcat Heir, this colt is a half-brother to a grade one winner, a brilliant graded stakes winner, and two black-type winners. Consigned by Denali Stud.

Hip #343:
By Lemon Drop Kid, this colt’s second dam – a Canadian broodmare of the year – is the dam of two Canadian champions, a grade one winner, and a graded stakes winner. This colt is similarly bred to Citronnade. Property of Adena Springs.

Hip #349:
Sired by Tiznow, this filly’s second dam produced three grade one winners – one of which is a champion – and a stakes winner. Consigned by Sweezey and Partners.

Hip #352:
By Empire Maker, this filly is a half-sister to a stakes-placed runner. Her second dam produced multiple black-type horses, including a champion. Consigned by Maynard Farm.

Hip #376:
Sired by the late Dixie Union, this colt’s second dam produced a graded stakes winner and a graded stakes-placed runner. His third dam produced a champion. Consigned by Lane’s End.

Hip #384:
By Giant’s Causeway, this direct descendant of La Troienne is a full sister to the grade one-winning Frost Giant. Consigned by Lane’s End.

Hip #413:
By Awesome Again, this colt is out of a full sister to the incredible Tiznow, making him a three-quarters brother to the grade one-winning Paynter.

Hip #423:
This filly is very similarly bred to Zenyatta, being by Street Cry and out of Zenyatta’s half-sister, Vertigineux’s daughter Treasure Trail. Consigned by John J. Greeley III (Wintergreen Farm).

Hip #432:
By Tiznow, this filly is a half-sister to the champion Point Given, as well as a handful of black-type-placed runners. Consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds.

Hip #434:
Sired by Giant’s Causeway, this filly is a sibling to a highweight filly, as well as a grade one-winning dual-classic-placed track record setter and a black-type winner. Consigned by Eaton Sales.

I will also be keeping an eye on these hips: 133, 153, 190, 239, and 250. What a sale!
